WWE Star Planning To Retire At The End Of 2027

A WWE star is aiming to wrap up her in-ring career at the end of 2027, as she admits she’s “coming close to the end.”

Seven years on from the end of her previous full-time WWE run in 2018, Nikki Bella made her comeback to the ring at the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble, and she’s not looked back since.

With her twin sister Brie, as well as fellow WWE Divas era alum Paige and AJ Lee also back in the company, Nikki has had a career resurgence and is set to bounce back from a serious ankle injury suffered back in March by returning to in-ring competition at this weekend’s SummerSlam PLE.

While she’s stated that this latest comeback “feels different” to others in the past, she’s also aware that her time in the ring is nearing its end. Which is giving more of a reason to “have fun” and not leave the business with any regrets.

Nikki said:

“I’m coming close to the end, I know I’ve talked about this, but I am. And I’m very great with that. Like, know, a year and a half, whatever it is, the end of 2027. And I really just want to finish this out exactly how I want it.

“If I got to break rules, I’m going to break rules. But I want to end it how I see it so I don’t look back and go ‘What if?’ Creatively if I feel a certain way, I want to do it. I don’t want to sit there and go ‘Oh, but follow the rules and be a good girl.’ I want to challenge myself. I want to stick up for what I believe in. And I also want to be super impressive and I want to produce great stuff as far as matches, but also creative.

“I want to continue to be a part of great changes for women’s wrestling and constantly making women’s wrestling feel important and special. And while I’m doing great things, bringing other people up with me to do great things. It’s what it’s all about, I don’t just speak the talk of empowering women, I truly love to empower women. It’s such a great group right now, and whatever I can give while also being a bad b**ch I’m all game.

“And to finally start to have some fun travelling with you (Brie). I want it to be fun. Life is way too short and I know I’m gonna get to a certain age and I won’t be able to throw on the snapback, the jersey, the kicks. I’m just getting there and that’s ok, so I want to enjoy it while I can.”

Nikki Bella began her in-ring career in WWE’s former developmental system Florida Championship Wrestling back in 2007, and she won the Divas Championship twice during her first run in the company – with her second run lasting an impressive 301 days.

The WWE Hall of Fame’s ankle injury prevented her and Brie capturing the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles for the first time at WrestleMania 42, with Paige instead returning and subbing in to achieve that honor instead.

With Brie and Paige losing said titles to Fatal Influence at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Nikki returned to WWE TV on the Friday, July 24 episode of SmackDown to aid her sister and Paige against a three-on-two attack from Jacy Jayne, Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid.
