AEW Star Reflects On Historic Championship Win: ‘It’s Very Surreal’

Willow Nightingale has commented on her historic title win at AEW Redemption, with Nightingale winning the Women’s World Championship.

The July 26 pay-per-view saw Nightingale reach the top of the AEW mountain, with the challenger defeating Thekla to win her first AEW Women’s World Championship.

AEW has since recognised Nightingale as the first women’s Triple Crown Winner, following her previous reigns with the TBS and Women’s Tag Team championships.

During the post-show media scrum, Willow Nightingale reflected on her achievement, stating:

“The fascinating thing about this too is, that has all been accomplished within this year. Like I won the TBS Title two years ago for the first time, but I held the tag and TBS earlier this year, now this, the world title. It’s really a whirlwind.

“I love AEW because, now it feels a lot more like we’ve got our legs, we’re more established, but it still feels so exciting and new, like this is the beginning of something so much more. In my head I’m like, this is gonna go on and on, and this is still like, we’re just getting started.

“To be somebody who is kind of helping lay down that foundation and hitting these marks and achievements at such a crazy, awesome time… I’m beside myself, it’s very surreal, in the best way possible.”

Nightingale has had two reigns with the TBS Championship, first holding the gold for 35 days after defeating Julia Hart in April 2024, ahead of her 140 day reign after winning the title from Mercedes Mone on the December 31, 2025 Dynamite: New Year’s Smash special.

She and Harley Cameron became the inaugural AEW Women’s World Tag Team Champions in December 2025 and held the gold up until March, when they were defeated by Megan Bayne and Lena Kross.

With Nightingale also winning the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament in 2023, she has won every title available in the women’s division, also making her the first women’s AEW Grand Slam Winner.

With Mercedes Mone winning the 2026 Owen Hart Cup, she will challenge for Willow Nightingale’s AEW Women’s World Title at All In London.
