An AEW name has commented on the direction of the HOOK vs. Jack Perry rivalry.
At AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, SANADA defeated “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry to retain the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Following the loss, Perry turned heel by attacking his tag team partner and friend HOOK on the entrance ramp.
Since then, Jungle Boy has shown a different side of himself who wants to take what HOOK has after his own failures in recent months.
Responding to fan talking about Perry’s character, AEW commentator Taz took to Twitter to give his thoughts on the current direction of the rivalry involving his son HOOK. He said:
Correct. I personally like it!
It’s a kinda different type of wrestling storytelling without the typical 15 min promo “blah blah blah” in the ring every week ….you dont NEED loads of TV time to get people invested in a story if you maximize your minutes correctly, it’s refreshing & different… it’s nice character development for both guys also imo.
On the July 5 edition of AEW Dynamite, Perry said he wanted to challenge HOOK for the FTW Championship before “The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil” ran him off for a second week in a row.
Meanwhile, Taz is on the call behind the commentary desk with Excalibur and Tony Schiavone every Wednesday on AEW Dynamite.
