An AEW star has discussed the “confusing” way that AEW and ROH talent are separated.
In March 2022, AEW President Tony Khan purchased Ring of Honor. After spending a year with just major events for the promotion, the company began airing weekly episodes again on Thursdays in March 2023.
Since then, there has been many questions regarding the make-up of the promotion’s roster. With ROH, it has been a bit of stars going back and forth between their roster and AEW with a few others exclusively for the Thursday show.
Speaking with Josh Nason’s Punch-Out podcast, The Butcher attempted to make sense of how the AEW and ROH split works and not being able to keep it straight. He said:
“I think there’s like some dudes that are just under the All Elite umbrella, and then there are guys that are just under the ROH umbrella.”
“I know for the most part, a lot of the guys are just under the main thing. So if you’re needed at ROH, you can go into ROH and do ROH. But I know there are some dudes that have exclusive ROH deals. It’s pretty confusing sometimes.”
Ultimately, The Butcher has been a team player by working on both rosters. He took part in the Blackjack Battle Royale for the AEW International Championship at Double Or Nothing, while he also appeared on the June 1 edition of ROH TV on Honor Club.
