Huge Spoiler On The Rock Returning To WWE SmackDown Tonight? WWE

UPDATE: The Rock did in fact return on SmackDown – to find out what happened, click here.

A new report has revealed that The Rock could possibly be present at tonight’s September 15 WWE SmackDown.

During the latest Pat McAfee Show, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed that he was “locked in” to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39.

Johnson went on to reveal that he would be “open” to a showdown with “The Tribal Chief” at next year’s WWE WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.

Per Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, a Pat McAfee Show employee outright told a Fightful Select source that The Rock and Pat McAfee would be at tonight’s SmackDown from Denver, Colorado.

Sapp reiterated that Fightful has not actually confirmed this news past a source being told it by the aforementioned employee.

One important distinction to make as well is that it was said Rock and McAfee would be “at” SmackDown, not necessarily “on” SmackDown, so that’s worth keeping in mind as well.

So definitely don’t take this as confirmation yet that an on-screen return will happen, but a Pat McAfee Show employee did tell a Fightful Select source that Rock and McAfee will be present at SmackDown tonight.

At this point, it’s just a case of taking that information for whatever you think it’s worth, but we’ll keep you posted if there are any more updates.

Already announced for tonight’s SmackDown, Finn Balor will face AJ Styles, Asuka will go one-on-one with Bayley and LA Knight meets The Miz in a Payback rematch. Also, John Cena will be the special guest for the Grayson Waller Effect.

WrestleTalk will provide further updates on The Rock potentially being present at tonight’s SmackDown when they become available.
