Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has commented on today’s WWE releases of in-ring talent while shouting out one in particular.
Amid those released, relative newcomers and veterans alike including some with tenured careers within the company.
The Rock took to Twitter to specifically shout out Dolph Ziggler, writing:
“Just seeing all these releases now.
“These days so f’n tough for the ones who gave their all to our crazy world of pro wrestling. Like
@HEELZiggler
“What a decorated @WWE career and I’ll always be a supporter and fan. Can’t wait to see what he (and everyone) does next… #onward”
Several WWE stars were released from their contracts today (Thursday, September 21), nine days after the UFC/Endeavor merger to form TKO.
Dolph Ziggler had been with WWE since 2004 and seen a variety of character iterations over the years.
He was last seen in action on WWE television during an episode of Monday Night Raw in May against JD McDonagh which ended in double count out.
Other tenured names gone from WWE today included Mustafa Ali, Shelton Benjamin, Elias and Dana Brooke.
