The Young Bucks Address Jack Perry AEW Blood & Guts Chair Shot Controversy

AEW EVPs The Young Bucks have addressed the controversy surrounding Jack Perry receiving an unprotected chair shot during the Blood & Guts match.

As is tradition, AEW’s yearly Blood & Guts match did not disappoint when it came to violence, with tools such as barbed wire boards, scissors, thumbtacks and staple guns used by all 10 competitors involved.

Despite the crazy weaponry on offer it was Mark Briscoe’s use of a steel chair that got people talking the most, with the ROH World Champion delivering an chair shot to the head of The Elite’s Jack Perry whilst The Scapegoat was handcuffed to the cage.

This drew criticism from some fans online, as well as from WWE’s Corey Graves, who was forced to retire from in-ring competition in 2014 due to concussions – however, he would later delete his tweet responding to the spot.

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks (Matthew & Nicholas Jackson) were asked about the chair shot spot, to which Nick Jackson said:

“All I know is Jack is fine, and that’s all that matters, we know the risk we’re taking in the ring and it wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t prepared for it.”

Barrasso noted that multiple contacts in AEW had confirmed that the chair used by Briscoe was “gimmicked”, rather than a real one.
