Itoh & Britt Baker notably defeated Thunder Rosa & Riho at AEW Revolution 2021. On the following episode of Dynamite, the team of Rosa, Hikaru Shida and Ryo Mizunami bested Itoh, Baker and Nyla Rose. Itoh’s last AEW match took place in March 2021 against Riho.
In January 2020, Rosa defeated Itoh for the International Princess Champion, before being forced to vacate the gold due to pandemic travel restrictions in October 2020.
Recalling their history on Twitter, Rosa replied:
“I was actually thinking the opposite. FOR THE RECORD, I BEAT YOU FOR THAT CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE and I will again! 2. @maki_itoh you must be out of your freaking mind if you think you can defeat me. Bitch is open season! Ass whippings are giving for free at @AEW get in line…”
Itoh simply replied:
“you talk a lot bitch”
Tony Khan previously noted that AEW plans to continue forming partnerships with international promotions, citing the company’s successful relationships with NJPW and AAA.
