TNA Wrestling Star Breaks Silence After Securing Legacy

A TNA Wrestling star has broken their silence after securing their legacy at last night’s Lockdown pay-per-view event.

The August 23 TNA Lockdown saw Cedric Alexander defending the X-Division Championship against Leon Slater, with more than just the title at stake.

If Leon Slater lost the X-Division Championship challenge, his own reign would be erased from the record books, meaning that the title would have moved from Moose to Cedric Alexander.

Further to this, Slater’s standing as both the youngest X-Divison Champion in TNA Wrestling history and the holder of the joint longest-reign would be no more.

Thankfully, revisionist history wouldn’t be embraced by TNA Wrestling, with Slater victories, defeating Alexander, who was unable to answer the ten count.

With Slater now X-Division Champion, his second reign wouldn’t last long, as he took “Option C” converting his title into a TNA World Championship challenge, targetting Nic Nemeth for a match at Bound for Glory.

In the aftermath of a monumental night for the TNA Wrestling star, Leon Slater took to Twitter to address his challenge to Nemeth, posting:

“YOUNGEST WORLD CHAMPION IN PRO WRESTLING HISTORY ⏳”

He would also address his standing as a record holder, asking of his second X-Division reign, once again on Twitter:

“I NEED SOMEONE TO CHECK IF I HAD THE LONGEST AND SHORTEST X-DIVISION REIGN OF ALL TIME??”

Slater joins Rockstar Spud, Chris Sabin and Eric Young in being a TNA Wrestling star with an X-Division run of under one day.

With the title no longer in Slater’s hands, the X-Division Championship is currently vacant.

TNA Bound for Glory takes place on October 11, 2026, at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.

A Bold Stipulation

When it comes to match stipulations, particularly those where a title is involved, it’s not uncommon to hear “if you lose, you can’t challenge again while I’m champion”, making it clear that the stakes are much higher than a championship.

It’s much less common to hear “if you lose, we’ll officially re-write the history books”, and that was something of a bold move when it comes to TNA Wrestling creative.

Had Alexander won, it could have set the star on a astronomical run of sheer hubris, knowing he can rewrite history at the drop of hat, yet it’s something that now won’t come into effect and is unlikely to be replayed in the future.

As for Slater, already a history-maker, he continues on a trajectory of his own against some of the most seasoned stars in TNA Wrestling, ably demonstrating that he can stand toe-to-toe with his peers.

Leon Slater, “the youngest TNA Wrestling World Champion in company history” has a ring to it, but could Avery Styles also be destined to make a mark of his own. Leon Slater vs. Avery Styles? Now that’s a match that’s bound to happen.
