Plans For TNA Wrestling To Bring In Former AEW Star Revealed AEW

A big update has emerged on future plans for Mike Santana, who finished up with AEW earlier this month.

Following speculation after Santana was removed from the AEW roster page, it was confirmed on March 5 that Mike Santana was done with AEW.

With Santana becoming a free agent, rumors have been swirling about the former AEW star’s next move.

Per Fightful Select, TNA Wrestling has plans to bring in Mike Santana.

The report didn’t specify whether or not Santana has a contract or agreement with the promotion, so his status is currently unclear.

Santana previously wrestled for TNA/IMPACT from 2017-2019, notably holding the Impact World Tag Team Championship on four separate occasions alongside Ortiz.

While he was active on the independent scene ahead of his AEW departure, Santana hadn’t wrestled for AEW since October 2023, when he defeated his former tag partner Ortiz on the October 27 edition of Rampage.

Santana had been with AEW since 2019, first in a tag team with Ortiz, who he’d teamed with as part of LAX before joining the company.

However, the two suffered a real-life falling out which led to them not working as a tag team since early 2022.

Despite legitimately not being on good terms, they were both part of the Blackpool Combat Club side in its feud with the Jericho Appreciation Society that year.

In the Blood & Guts match that ended that feud, Santana suffered a long-term injury and didn’t wrestle again until August 2023 at All In London.

Once again, despite the real-life issues, Santana and Ortiz were put on the same team, this time teaming with the BCC against Eddie Kingston, Penta El Zero Miedo and Best Friends in a Stadium Stampede match.

Santana recently explained his relationship with Ortiz, you can read his comments right here.
