AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has announced ROH Women’s World Championship Match for an upcoming AEW event.

Since becoming ROH Women’s World Champion at Final Battle 2022, Athena has been primarily featured on Ring of Honor television with many fans wondering when she will return to AEW programming.

On April 12, Tony Khan announced that Athena will make her AEW return when she defend the ROH Women’s World Championship against Red Velvet on this Saturday’s AEW Battle of the Belts X. The post reads:

Saturday #AEWBOTB

TOMORROW on TNT

ROH Women’s World Title
@AthenaPalmer_FG vs @Thee_Red_Velvet

After a huge #ROHSupercard win, Athena arrives in AEW at Battle of the Belts to defend the title vs Red Velvet, after her amazing run in the TV Title Tournament!

This bout will mark Athena’s first match on AEW TV since WrestleDream in October 2023.

Athena is coming off a successful title defense against Hikaru Shida at ROH Supercard of Honor 2024 in Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, Red Velvet has been featured on Ring of Honor TV since the start of 2024 and competed in the ROH Women’s TV Title Tournament earlier this year.

Already announced for AEW Battle of the Belts X, Roderick Strong will face Rocky Romero in an AEW International Championship Eliminator Match.
