AEW president and CEO Tony Khan gave injury updates on Britt Baker and Rey Fenix following last night’s Double Or Nothing pay-per-view event.
Baker suffered a leg injury on the May 20 episode of Dynamite earlier this week ahead of a scheduled match against Kris Statlander at Double Or Nothing. Baker was pulled from the match and replaced with Penelope Ford.
AEW’s doctor said during the show that Baker suffered an interior tibia fracture, a partial lateral collateral ligament tear, and a small degree of a popliteus tendon tear.
Speaking on when we can expect her back in action, Khan said the timetable is looking like six-eight weeks, so about two months. The promotion did announce that she’ll give an on-screen update on her status during the May 27 Dynamite this coming Wednesday.
With Fenix, who landed badly doing a dive on Dynamite, Khan said that is was very close but he’s limping and didn’t think he’d be able to give 100%. Fenix was replaced in the Casino Ladder Match with Joey Janela.
Khan didn’t give a specific time period for Fenix’s return, but said he expects him to be back soon.
