AEW Star Details New Backstage Responsibilities AEW

Tony Schiavone has detailed his new backstage responsibilities for AEW.

Schiavone has been with AEW since 2019. The veteran of wrestling broadcasting has served as an announcer, interviewer and commentator for the promotion.

He also serves as the senior producer for live events.

Tony Schiavone earned a promotion in August 2022, adding the role of Senior Producer and Special Advisor to Talent to his resume.

On a recent episode of On Demand: Ask Tony Anything, the broadcaster explained what his new backstage role entails.

He explained:

“There’s a lot of things that Tony Khan does not want to handle, and so I have to handle a lot of those, be it talent relations or organizational things.”

Schiavone noted that the role includes working long hours outside of AEW’s live shows and doing “a lot of organizational things.”

He gave a glimpse into his day-to-day:

“We went back and forth with the production truck today and one of the talents about how we are going to do this interview that’s going to happen on Wednesday, and I had to kind of organize that.

“I’m also one that will get with wrestlers, and when two wrestlers have a problem with each other, I’m kind of the person that talks to him.”

Schiavone explained his approach to handling conflict between talent, saying:

“So here I come in, say, ‘Okay, you f**kers, get the f**k together. We’ve got a f**king TV show (to do)’.”

AEW has had a number of backstage altercations go public in recent months, with the All Out backstage altercation being particularly of note.

After the now infamous All Out media scrum, reports emerged that Tony Schiavone was Tony Khan’s “right-hand man” in the situation.

Schiavone addressed these reports and gave insight into who he thinks is the locker room leader. You can read more on this right here.
