Top WWE Star Appears On NXT To Attack Rival

A top WWE star made a surprise appearance on tonight’s NXT New Year’s Evil show to attack their current rival.

The main event of tonight’s NXT New Year’s Evil event was changed on the fly, with Ilja Dragunov being deemed not fit to defend his NXT Championship against Trick Williams in the advertised main event.

Instead, Grayson Waller appeared on the show, with Carmelo Hayes talking Trick Williams into putting his NXT Championship shot on the line against him in the show’s new main event.

Following the new announced main event, Shawn Michaels teased that a ‘former NXT Champion’ would be appearing for the match, and he did not disappoint.

The champion in question was Kevin Owens, who has had issues with Grayson Waller on SmackDown in recent weeks.

Owens appeared to punch Waller in the face, allowing Trick to keep ahold of his title shot.

Owens wasn’t the only SmackDown star to appear on the show, as Carlito was revealed as the surprise replacement for North American Champion Dragon Lee.
