The latest major twist in the Bloodline saga took place at Money In The Bank, when Jey Uso handed the Tribal Chief his first pinfall loss, and Roman Reigns’ first pinfall loss since December 2019 to Baron Corbin.
With Jey’s victory, he is next in line to challenge Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam in Detroit next month.
As the latest part of the Bloodline story continues to go on, many fans now look at Jey Uso as the man who should ultimately topple the Tribal Chief to become champion, and it’s not just fans that feel that way.
Speaking to Inside The Ropes, current Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn were asked about who they would want to see dethrone Reigns.
Owens responded:
“Either Jey or Jimmy, I think both those guys deserve the world, and both those guys would be fantastic Universal World Champions. I think they’d be a shoo-in for that spot, they’d be great at it, and honestly, with the way everything has progressed, and the new heights they’ve reached, it certainly wouldn’t look out of place.”
Sami agreed with his tag team partner, adding:
“I think from a character and story perspective, it does make sense to see Jimmy or Jey do it. I think a lot of characters have come along throughout the last three years who could have been a very fitting ending. I think I was one, Cody [Rhodes] was one, and even Drew [McIntyre] to a certain extent.
“There have been a couple of moments — even Kevin [Owens] at points could have been the bow on the story, the culmination of this whole thing. But, it does seem at this point after everything else, that Jimmy or Jey would be the most fitting.”
Reigns was taken to ‘Tribal Court’ by the Usos on last night’s SmackDown show, in a segment that ended up running long, causing timing issues for the rest of the show.
