Unique Stipulation Set For KOPW Match At NJPW Golden Fight Series NJPW

A stipulation has been determined for the King of Pro-Wrestling Trophy match set for the April 25 NJPW Golden Fight Series show.

Shingo Takagi is set to face off against Taichi for the provisional trophy this Monday. Prior to the bout, the two competitors suggested rules for the encounter.

Taichi suggested a 30-count match, in which the winner would be the star to reach a combined count of 30, from multiple pin attempts. Takagi went for a version of a Three Falls match, with the twist that a competitor must earn a one-count, then a two-count, then finally a three-count.

Following a vote from fans, NJPW has confirmed that the bout will be contested under Taichi’s suggested 30-count stipulation.

The votes were broken down as follows (per NJPW):

Votes cast 40,963

Taichi: 30 Count Match

21,194 votes 51.7%

Shingo Takagi: Takagi style 3 falls match

19,769 votes 48.3%

The NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship will also be on the line on Monday’s show, with EVIL, SHO & Yujiro Takahashi set to defend against Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and Hiroshi Tanahashi

On Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan and NJPW President Takami Ohbari confirmed that the rumored ‘Forbidden Door’ crossover event will take place on June 26.
