Jeff Hardy appeared to have a bit of a new lease on life after debuting for AEW back in March this year, so his DUI arrest in June was in many ways even more disappointing for fans.
Jeff has entered a “not guilty” plea to the charge, and a pre-trial hearing will be taking place in October.
Reportedly, Hardy has been seeking the substance abuse treatment that was recommended and is conditional to facilitate a return to AEW.
According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Jeff is expected to leave rehab in the near future, which will also allow him to return to the ring.
The Observer reports:
Jeff Hardy is expected to be out of rehab soon and back in the ring.
A Jeff return was also recently teased by Matt Hardy on his “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, when he said we’d all soon be getting to know the “new Jeff”.
He said:
“[Teaming with Wardlow] sounds great. I’m pretty excited. We’re getting close to the point where we meet the new Jeff and we figure out his future and what he ends up doing. I’m pretty excited because I feel like his mentality is like — he knows he has to make some changes and do what’s right. I feel like he’s at a point where he will this time around. I’m excited to have him back and I think this would be amazing. It’d be so much fun.”
Everyone is hopeful that the next time he does return, he’s returning for good.
