The original main event for Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary show will obviously not be going ahead. The original match would have featured both Michael Elgin and former champion Tessa Blanchard but both have recently been released by the promotion.
This has left the main event in a state of flux. The original idea was a five-way match, but now things have changed. Fightful Select (subscription required) is now reporting details as to how the match will be changed.
“The current plan calls for a four-way match, with Ace Austin, Eddie Edwards and Trey Miguel being joined by a mystery opponent. Former Champion Tessa Blanchard has been pulled from the match after her departure from the company, and Michael Elgin has been pulled from the match following his.”
Eddie Edwards, Trey Miguel, and Ace Austin were the three other men scheduled for the original five-way match. There is currently no word on who the mystery opponent will be.
Slammiversary is currently scheduled to air on pay per view on July 18. The show will also feature The North defending their Impact Tag Team Championships against Ken Shamrock and Sami Callihan.
