After Monday Night Raw started with a WrestleMania 39 recap and a special message from Triple H, what opened SmackDown?
With the promise of an appearance by Triple H after he was just seen in the ring during Monday Night Raw, did the show’s opening hold any answers?
There was still the WrestleMania 39 recap package however afterwards, we cut to crowd shots and then a big entrance.
By the Brawling Brutes, Ridge Holland, Sheamus and Butch.
Notably despite previous rumors that he would be returning to the Pete Dunne in-ring moniker, he was heavily referred to as Butch.
Next making their entrance was Imperium with a promise from Michael Cole on commentary.
He specifically noted that Triple H would make an appearance on tonight’s SmackDown.
Later in the show there will also Santos Escobar and Rey Mysterio are set to take on Damian Priest and Dominik Mysterio.
After a hard hitting and exciting match, it was the Brawling Brutes who picked up the victory in front of a joyous Portland, Oregon crowd.
Of note, don’t call it “Vince booking”, since the same match ran in Seattle for SmackDown on September 9, 2022 albeit with Imperium coming out on top in that bout.
