The aftermath of the December 28 AAA Noche de Campeones event saw Dragon Lee confirm that he’s heading to WWE.
Dragon Lee and Dralistico, the team of Hermanos Lee, defeated AEW’s FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) to become the new AAA Tag Team Champions.
With Dragon Lee signing a WWE contract and becoming an NXT star, details have emerged of what may lie ahead for AAA and WWE.
Dave Meltzer, in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required), explained that AAA management are still interested in pursuing partnership.
Meltzer would state that:
“Obviously the company is wanting to work with WWE, given they gave a WWE talent the tag title and a win over an AEW talent.”
He would conclude by revealing that Tony Khan hadn’t obstructed the decision for the AAA Tag Team Championship match, saying:
“Tony Khan was aware of this going in and didn’t block it because it was scheduled to be FTR’s last date in AAA so he approved the title change, and he did know Lee had signed with WWE and didn’t even insist Dralistico, who is an AEW talent, would be the one to score the pin.”
Triple H confirmed that Dragon Lee had indeed signed with WWE via Twitter with WWE would going on to issue an official statement shortly thereafter.
Details have since emerged about the deal between Dragon Lee and WWE.
