An update has been provided on if WWE reached out to AEW regarding Jon Moxley appearing at WrestleMania 40.
At WWE WrestleMania 40, Cody Rhodes defeated Roman Reigns to finish his story and finally become the Undisputed WWE Champion by ending Roman’s 1316 day reign.
The main event match featured an all-star lineup of run-ins with the likes of Jey Uso, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa, John Cena, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and The Undertaker all getting involved.
Before The Rock was able to whip Cody with his “MAMA RHODES” weight belt, The Shield’s theme music hit and it was Seth Rollins who entered the ring with the signature Shield gear.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, AEW President Tony Khan was asked if WWE reached out to him about Jon Moxley making a one-off appearance at WrestleMania 40. The report reads:
Speaking to ComicBook.com, AEW President Tony Khan confirmed that WWE did not reach out to AEW about using Jon Moxley for a one-off appearance during the Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns main event.
Moxley departed WWE in 2019 after eight years with the promotion and debuted for All Elite Wrestling at Double Or Nothing that same year. He has went on to become the only three-time AEW World Champion.
Jon Moxley will challenge Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Windy City Riot this Friday, April 12.
