WWE Star Continues To Tease Match With John Cena

With WrestleMania 39 fast approaching, the presence of John Cena has been a big question mark among WWE fans.

Cena recently appeared on WWE SmackDown to close out 2022 with his only in-ring appearance of the year.

His absence from WWE television, however, isn’t enough to stop his presence being felt.

Recent reports have stated that, subject to TV and movie commitments, Cena would be at the April 1 & 2 Hollywood-themed show.

The reports have also stated that Austin Theory had been considered as an opponent.

With Theory being compared to Cena by many, and with the two having crossed paths previously on television, Theory and Cena have both referenced each other, with the current United States Champion making it clear that he wants to face, and retire, Cena.

Theory would continue to make subtle jibes at John Cena, this time on the January 9 episode of WWE Raw.

Taking to the microphone during an in-ring promo, Theory would echo a famous Cena catchphrase announcing:

“The Champ is here.”

He would then go on to paraphrase the WWE tagline, by adding:

“All of you now have to accept the truth.

“And the truth is that the now is forever.”

As seen in the video posted to Twitter, the WWE Universe weren’t exactly overwhelmed with positivity by Theory’s words.

It wouldn’t be the only Theory-centric moment on WWE, as the episode would also see Seth Rollins would confront the US Champion.

Another man with his sights set on Theory, Bobby Lashley, would also make his impactful return.
