WWE Star Reveals Awkward Vince McMahon Request Prior To Gimmick Change WWE

A WWE star has revealed a strange request from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon prior to receiving a character overhaul.

Despite now being known once again as Riddick Moss, from 2021 to the spring of 2023, Moss was known as Madcap Moss, initially playing sidekick to Happy Corbin.

Given the name, Moss was known for being a kook and telling jokes, often at the request of Corbin.

However, before signing off on the character, McMahon decided he needed to hear Moss’ laugh first hand.

Speaking to Sam Roberts on Not Sam Wrestling Live, Moss discussed the character and the rather awkward request from the Chairman.

Moss revealed:

“There is a very similar characteristic between myself and the Madcap (Moss) character which is I love to just have a good time and laugh and not take anything too seriously.

“At the end of the day, as much as we care about all these things, it’s just wrestling and I like to have fun and that applies not just to wrestling but to anything in life.

“I just want to have fun and if there’s ever an angle for me to get to laugh, I go for it. There’s no doubt.

“Unless it’s a really inappropriate situation but even then, I think about it, you know? Can I get away with this right now?

“So I think that there was that aspect to it maybe. I think it kind of just lined up and it was a bit lucky.

“But I did have to show, demonstrate to Vince (McMahon) that I could laugh.

“So he explained the character, explained what he was looking for out of the character and then said, ‘Okay, laugh.’ ‘Excuse me?’

He said, ‘Laugh.’ (Moss fake laughs) ‘Alright, that works. We can work with that.’”

Upon his initial breakout from Baron Corbin, Moss was positioned pretty prominently on SmackDown, even winning the 2022 Andre The Giant Battle Royal, Moss’.

However, since being moved to Raw in the WWE Draft this past April, he’s only made one appearance on Raw which was in a battle royal.

Since then, he has competed exclusively on WWE Main Event, winning one match out of five.
