WWE
Two matches have been announced for WWE Backlash 2026 as Seth Rollins will face Bron Breakker, and IYO SKY will face Asuka.
Both of these matches were at one stage planned to take place at WrestleMania 42, but ended up not happening there.
Plans for Rollins and Breakker changed a few different times, and when Rollins was cleared from his October injury, the idea was for him to return for a Mania match against Breakker.
However, Breakker then suffered a hernia that needed surgery in early February, which ruled him out of a lot of the lead up to WrestleMania, so WWE decided to have him return at Mania to cost Rollins his match against GUNTHER.
Meanwhile, IYO SKY vs Asuka being left off the WrestleMania was seemingly just a creative decision that was made as opposed to being forced off the card due to injury or any other reason.
One of the big stories told throughout the build up has been Asuka’s mistreatment of Kairi Sane, but Sane was released by WWE this past Friday so that element seems to be done.
Asuka did cost SKY her Women’s Intercontinental Championship match against Becky Lynch earlier tonight on Raw.

In a promo video afterwards, Asuka said:
“IYO, did you think you were done with me? I say when we’re done, because I’m still your senpai. All I’ve done is try and help you and all you’ve done is disappoint me.
“For so long I blamed myself for your mistake, I thought I did something wrong for you to turn your back on me, but I finally realize you are the problem.
“You are ungrateful, you are selfish, and you are my biggest failure, but I didn’t fail you, you failed me, you failed your family, and now we’re both alone because I didn’t want another IYO.
“I’ve spared you until now becuase I thought we could be a family again, but now you’ve killed that family, nothing will stop me from destroying you.
“So at Backlash, I fix my failure, I teach you one final lesson and that lesson is; you are not and will not ever be ready for Asuka”
