With the passing of Superstar Billy Graham still being felt across the wrestling landscape, Triple H and Paul Heyman have paid tribute.
Superstar Billy Graham passed away at the age of 79 on May 18 2023, with tributes led by Ric Flair who noted the influence the Superstar had on his career.
WWE issued a statement following Graham’s passing, saying:
“A former WWE Champion, Graham’s flashy fashion style, over-the-top interviews and bodybuilder physique created the archetype for a generation of Superstars that followed in his footsteps.”
WWE also released a tribute video to the original “Superstar” Billy Graham which can be seen below this news story.
Triple H, who inducted Graham into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004, has also paid tribute to the wrestling legend on Twitter, writing:
“The most imitated man to ever step in the ring… but there was only one “Superstar” Billy Graham.
RIP my friend…..
“My thoughts are with his family, friends and fans.”
Respects were also paid by Paul Heyman who wrote:
“Before Billy Graham, performers in WWWF / WWF/ WWE were known as professional wrestlers.
“After Billy Graham left his mark, Vincent Kennedy McMahon decided everyone would be a WWE Superstar.
“A most heartfelt RIP to the man of the hour, the man with the power, too sweet to be sour!”
The wrestling world lost an industry-defining performer whose impact and importance are still being felt to this day.
We send our condolences to Coleman’s family, friends, and all those affected by his passing.
