WWE has announced that Bobby Lashley will defend his WWE Championship in an Elimination Chamber match at WWE Elimination Chamber on February 19.
Stating that the title will be on the line in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, WWE tweeted:
“BREAKING NEWS: @fightbobby will defend the #WWETitle in an Elimination Chamber Match at #WWEChamber in Jeddah on Saturday, Feb. 19″
It was confirmed in the Elimination Chamber preview on WWE.com that Lashley will defend his gold against 5 other stars, with the pods set to open at five minute intervals.
Lashley won the gold from Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble, following interference from Roman Reigns. Later in the night, Lesnar won the men’s Rumble, last eliminating Drew McIntyre. WWE reportedly had ‘no idea‘ what the WWE Title match at WrestleMania 38 was going to be as of the event.
Following another report that Riddle was originally slated to win the Royal Rumble match, WrestleVotes has noted that plans for a Riddle vs Randy Orton WWE Championship feud was in the works at one point.
Lashley’s victory marked the second time the WWE Championship has changed hands in this year so far. Stay up to date with every 2022 title change in WWE using our tracker at this link.
