WWE Changing Plans For Major Match Due To Mistake? WWE

UPDATE: Dave Meltzer has now confirmed that the match did indeed have a botched finish

A big upcoming match at WWE Survivor Series 2023 that seemed to be confirmed might not be set in stone just yet.

This comes after last night’s November 6 episode of WWE Raw, and specifically the Intercontinental Championship #1 contender four-way match.

The four participants were Ricochet, The Miz, Bronson Reed and Ivar, with The Miz getting the win.

However, there were some question marks about the finish, and those question marks have now been amplified even more.

There was a double pin where Ivar was pinning Ricochet and Miz was pinning Reed, but when the ref counted two, Ricochet kicked out, and Reed didn’t, meaning Miz got the win.

Ricochet’s kickout was as blatant a kickout as you could ever wish to see, but the commentators were still playing up that they didn’t know what was happening, and the referee was visibly confused too.

This has led to question marks over whether this was actually the planned finish, or whether Ricochet may have been supposed to stay down for an actual double three count, meaning both Miz and Ivar would have scored pins at the same time.

Ultimately, we don’t know the answer to that yet, but there’s a big sign that things aren’t as simple as Miz having won the match.

WWE has updated the Survivor Series 2023 preview page on its website with two matches that were confirmed on Raw.

Those matches are the men’s WarGames match, as well as Rhea Ripley defending the Women’s World Championship against Zoey Stark.

One match that was seemingly set up on Raw but is missing from the preview? Intercontinental Champion Gunther vs The Miz.

After the four-way, Ivar attacked Miz which set up a match between the two of them for next week.

If there was going to be a match between the two of them for next week, there’s a chance that attack was called on the fly, perhaps in place of the double finish that may have been supposed to happen, which in theory could have been the planned setup for the rematch.

No stipulation for the match next week – such as “if Ivar wins he gets added to the Survivor Series match” – was mentioned.

We’ll keep you posted if any updates emerge, but it’s a question people have been asking, and WWE not confirming Gunther vs Miz on its own website has only added to that.
