Real Reason Charlotte Flair Was Off WWE TV For So Long WWE

Charlotte Flair returned to WWE television after a seven-month hiatus, defeating Ronda Rousey to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion.

It has now been revealed that the seven-month hiatus wasn’t what was initially planned.

Speaking to the New York Post, it would be revealed that she was written off of television after WrestleMania Backlash in May 2022 with a storyline ankle injury.

This was so that she could get married to Andrade El Idolo on May 27 2022.

Following their honeymoon, Flair needed to attend to dental issues that required immediate attention.

She would undergo multiple dental procedures which would mean that she would be unable to work in any way that could risk her being hit in the face.

Flair would say that she could have returned at SummerSlam in July, but had one more procedure that would need doing.

The dental issues were serious enough that she had no choice but to take care of them, with it being revealed that she had had issues dating back to her childhood and had also needed surgery in 2018 after a tooth was knocked out on the European tour.

Taking time away from the ring was a “blessing in many ways” according to the New York Post, with the pair spending more time together and traveling extensively.

Flair would say it was “so special” to see both their families, describing it as “two different worlds coming together”.

She would also try to disconnect from the wrestling world, explaining:

“Usually I’m thinking, even if I do go to the beach while I’m working I could go for a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, but I’m thinking, ‘what am I doing on TV Friday, where are my live events?’

“To completely be disconnected and in the moment was so nice and getting that one-on-one time with Manny [Andrade] that I never have had before, it was priceless.”

With Flair now firmly back in WWE, she is currently feuding with Sonya Deville.

She has also expressed an interest in working with Bianca Belair, the current WWE Raw Women’s Champion.
