Cody Rhodes has addressed the possibility of appearing in the WarGames match, with two having previously taken place at Survivor Series.
Dusty Rhodes created the WarGames concept in 1987 for NWA and it would go on to be used in WCW.
WWE would first employ the match type in NXT at NXT TakeOver: WarGames in November 2017 before bringing it to the main roster for Survivor Series WarGames in November 2022.
Although the match style has been long associated with his father, Cody Rhodes has never been in a WarGames match.
At the time of writing, the status of WarGames at Survivor Series hasn’t been confirmed, but Cody Rhodes has spoken on the subject.
Speaking to the NY Post, Rhodes addressed the possibility of appearing in a WarGames match and said:
“I’m not gonna get picked for the WarGames team or who knows what I could be doing that night.”
He did also note, however, that he feels “just not gonna happen.”
With WWE SummerSlam taking place this weekend, Rhodes will face Brock Lesnar in Detroit, Michigan.
AEW has also used a WarGames style match type for their Blood and Guts matches on AEW Dynamite.
