WWE Confirms Change To Cody Rhodes Championship

WWE Confirms Change To Cody Rhodes Championship WWE

WWE has now officially gone one step further in confirming a change to the championship recently won by Cody Rhodes.

WWE’s website has officially been updated to reflect the name that was announced for Cody Rhodes on Raw.

Cody Rhodes is now listed as the ‘Undisputed WWE Champion’, not the former iteration of the combined titles held by Roman Reigns.

The title held by Roman Reigns was previously referred to as the ‘Undisputed WWE Universal Championship’, so the Universal has been dropped from the moniker.

WWE had loosely done this on TV in some graphics, but WWE’s website hadn’t been updated to reflect the same until now.

While Rhodes just won the title at WrestleMania 40, he will already be set to defend it at Backlash.

On Saturday May 4, 2024, Cody Rhodes will defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against either AJ Styles or LA Knight.

Styles and Knight will have a WrestleMania 40 rematch on this week’s upcoming SmackDown (April 19) to determine who will advance to get the title shot against Rhodes.

Another intriguing detail from Cody Rhodes last night on Raw, referring to himself as a ‘SmackDown superstar’ – which is also now reflected on the site – although in theory that is possibly set to change soon.

The 2024 WWE Draft will begin on Friday, April 26 on SmackDown and then set to continue on Monday Night Raw on April 29.
