WWE Executive Names Former Stars ‘Too Nice’ To Succeed WWE

A top name has discussed the historic need to have a “killer instinct” in the WWE locker room, picking out two stars who were “too nice” to succeed in the company.

Speaking on his Something to Wrestle With podcast, long-serving WWE executive Bruce Prichard brought up two once-promising stars who he feels lacked what it took to carve out top spots within the company.

Prichard first brought up Mark Jindrak, who the company once had “high hopes” for after arriving from WCW upon its purchase by WWE in 2001 alongside his former tag partner Sean O’Haire, however, in Pritchard’s opinion neither could “put it together” enough to enjoy a large amount of success in the industry.

As is well documented, Jindrak once almost had a golden opportunity to stand alongside Triple H, Ric Flair and Randy Orton in Evolution, even to the point where vignettes were filmed with him involved, however, he was later dropped for Batista.

Prichard commented on why this switch was made:

“I don’t know if Mark had the killer instinct in him, and Dave (Batista) did.

“It was also a matter of how those guys worked together — Dave had worked with Ric (Flair) before, so there was already a bond there.

“I think Mark was the odd man out that didn’t really seem to fit.

“…Mark was probably too nice for the spot. And you’ve gotta have some a–hole in you.”

Prichard also named former inaugural Tough Enough winner Maven as another star that the company hoped would reach the top, however, in Prichard’s opinion his shortcomings were similar to that of Jindrak.

“I don’t think Maven had enough a–hole in him, either. He was way too nice of a guy.

“I think he viewed the business as a work — it’s not … you have to fight for your position. I think that was his downfall.”

Interestingly, Maven, who has recently started up an already successful YouTube channel, weighed in on rumors regarding JBL, a man who gained a reputation for not being ‘too nice’ within the locker room – you can find his interesting comments on the former WWE Champion here.
