Gable Steveson made his long-awaited WWE NXT debut on the June 20 episode and it’s now been confirmed that’s where he is staying.
The Olympic Gold Medalist appeared on the GoldRush episode of NXT, offering to train Eddy Thorpe to face Damon Kemp.
The match took place on the July 4 episode of WWE NXT with the Raw Underground concept making a comeback.
Thorpe would be victorious against Kemp, Steveson’s real-life brother, by TKO.
With previous reports that Steveson hopes to return to competition in the NCAA, Dave Meltzer has provided an update on Steveson’s position in WWE.
According to the new issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Steveson has been official confirmed as a member of the NXT roster internally within WWE.
Steveson signed with WWE in September 2021, having made an appearance at SummerSlam in August of that year.
He would be signed to a NIL deal (Next In Line) and was drafted to the WWE Raw brand in 2021.
He appeared at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022 and would have an altercation with Chad Gable.
Later that year, he would appear on WWE SmackDown in December for Kurt Angle’s birthday celebration.
He would make his first NXT appearance on June 20, 2023 having not been seen since in 2023 until then.
Steveson will soon be taking time off from WWE to train to compete in the world championships.
Per the previous report, Steveson had “to sort out scheduling details with the WWE before his return is official but if all goes according to plan, he will be back on the NCAA mat next season.”
Steveson is an Olympic Gold Medalist for the United States and has won national titles for the Gophers in 2021 and 2022.
