A WWE General Manager has been banned from shows after an incident that took place this past weekend at Night of Champions.
The main event of Night of Champions saw Sami Zayn win the Undisputed WWE Championship in a three-way match against GUNTHER and former champion Cody Rhodes.
In a clip that aired on the Night of Champions post-show, GUNTHER was seen backstage venting his frustrations to SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis.
Aldis and GUNTHER’s confrontation became physical, and it was actually Aldis that initiated the contact.
In an update on WWE Raw tonight, announcer Michael Cole stated that he’d received news from WWE HQ that both GUNTHER and Aldis had been “sent home” after the incident.
Furthermore, Aldis has been placed on “administrative leave.”
In Aldis’ absence, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce will be in charge of both Raw and SmackDown.
Will Nick Aldis Finally Makes His WWE In-Ring Debut?
This is far from the first time Nick Aldis has been in a physical confrontation with talent, with the likes of Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre being in similar situations recently.
When those storylines happened, many fans predicted they would result in Aldis having his first ever match in WWE, and his first match overall since October 2023.
Since that point, he’s been on WWE TV as the SmackDown GM, but hasn’t had a match – it appears this is the most likely storyline to lead to an in-ring comeback for the former TNA and NWA World Champion.
A match between Aldis and GUNTHER at WWE SummerSlam 2026 seems like the most likely outcome here, but as noted, there have been other times it’s seemed like Aldis would be getting back in the ring that didn’t transpire, so it’s far from confirmed.
