WWE
Several WWE firings have reportedly taken place over the past week with a number of employees let go from their positions.
So far, it appears the social media/digital departments of the company have been affected by these firings.
PWInsider reports that it has confirmed “two to four” firings from that department in WWE last week.
The outlet also notes it’s been told there “may have been others as well.”
There were no specific names mentioned among the firings in PWInsider’s report.
There also haven’t been any talent departures as part of these firings, so, for now at least, it appears to be an employee situation only rather than talent.
Some of the talent departures earlier this year did come at a time that WWE was looking to cut costs including asking talents to take pay cuts, which is something New Day refused to do and they ended up leaving the company instead.
We’ll keep you posted if any further details emerge, but there was no more info in the original report other than “two to four” names fired from the WWE social media/digital departments last week.
WWE has had a lot of names depart from its behind the scenes media departments over the past couple of years following the merger with UFC to form TKO under parent company Endeavor, and the merging of departments to essentially have joint TKO departments working on both WWE and UFC projects, rather than separate departments for each brand.
WWE Social Media Changes Recently
Over the past couple of months, WWE has cracked down big time on re-sharing of copyrighted content on social media.
Once seemingly supported by the company, we’re now at a point where clips of matches and programming are constantly being taken down, which has made it hard for people like reaction creators to continue with their content.
WWE does go through phases with its approach to these things, so it’s possible it will lighten up again in the future.
