World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns’ opponent for WWE SummerSlam 2026 has now been confirmed coming out of Raw tonight.

Reigns was absent from WWE Night of Champions this past Saturday but returned on Raw tonight with a promo at the end of the show.

However, he was interrupted by a familiar face – Seth Rollins, who had defeated Bron Breakker in a steel cage match at Night of Champions on Saturday.

Rollins came to Reigns with a pitch – a pitch for a match between the two at SummerSlam for the World Heavyweight Title, which is a title Rollins held last year and never actually lost, but had to vacate due to injury.

Reigns initially refused and said Rollins had to earn it, but Rollins came with a somewhat emotional proposal.

Rollins pointed out that the one thing Reigns has never accomplished in WWE is defeating Rollins, and, with their careers winding down and the new generation of talent coming through, this might be the last chance for them to do it.

Rollins continued and asked Reigns if he really wants to end his career without being able to put a bow on their story that started when they joined the WWE main roster together in The Shield in 2012.

He said:

“You’ve done everything except beat me. This might be your last chance to close that loop. We came down that ramp together, we kicked the old generation to the curb, we made this place our own.

“We made this place our own, we created the greatest generation in this industry’s history. You and me, we did that together. But we are much closer to the end than we are the beginning, and just as it was when we started, there is a new generation of hungry superstars that are ready to come after us.

“So this could be our last chance to do this dance, brother.”

After hearing this, Reigns agreed to the match and confirmed it will happen at SummerSlam.

On a related note, earlier in the show, a Hell in a Cell match was confirmed for SummerSlam between Oba Femi and Brock Lesnar, with confirmation that Femi is forgoing his SummerSlam title shot that he earned at King of the Ring in favor of facing Lesnar to culminate their feud.
