GUNTHER’s WWE WrestleMania 40 opponent has been revealed after a gauntlet match ended tonight’s edition of Monday Night Raw.
In the main event match on tonight’s WWE Raw (March 11), there was a six-man gauntlet match to determine who would face GUNTHER at WrestleMania 40.
In the first match, Ricochet beat JD McDonagh, summoning out Big Bronson Reed.
Big Bronson Reed bested Ricochet which brought out Sami Zayn.
Sami Zayn beat Reed, and as Shinsuke Nakamura made his entrance Reed continued to attack Sami Zayn.
Despite the attack, Zayn was still able to beat Nakamura and advance to the final entrant, Chad Gable.
With Zayn still down in the ring, Gable told him that his was his WrestleMania moment and he wanted to fight for the chance.
The pair had a competitive match with numerous near falls including the final segment in which Chad Gable had Sami Zayn’s ankle firmly in an ankle lock until Zayn was able to escape and roll Gable up with his shoulders on the mat.
Capturing the pinfall victory, Sami Zayn ended up winning the gauntlet match, having eliminated Bronson Reed, Shinsuke Nakamura and finally Gable.
Sami Zayn will now go on to face GUNTHER for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 40.
