WWE has sparingly used authority figures on television over the past few years, with Adam Pearce serving as WWE official for both Raw and SmackDown.
However, fans had speculated prior to the 2023 WWE Draft that the company were hoping that we would see general managers return to the company.
One name who was a part of the Draft was WWE Hall of Famer Rob Van Dam, who helped announce one of the rounds of picks.
Speaking on 1 of a Kind with RVD, Rob was asked if he would consider a potential role as an authority figure in wrestling.
He said:
“I would consider it. My first thought is that like, ‘I’m really not comfortable in a suit, so I would hope that they didn’t want me in a suit.’
It was then pointed out that RVD would not necessarily have to wear a suit for the role, and could just dress like himself.
To that he added:
“I’d be interested in hearing the idea and how that would work, you know, why not?
RVD was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame back in 2021.
