The granddaughter of a WWE Hall of Famer was among a group of 40 athletes competing in the latest WWE tryouts in Detroit during SummerSlam weekend.
Sydne Watts, former high school and college basketball player and granddaughter of legendary former wrestler and promoter ‘Cowboy’ Bill Watts, took part in the tryout, alongside the other WWE hopefuls.
While Watts has some name value in wrestling courtesy of her grandfather, herself and the other 39 hopefuls were predominantly not from a wrestling background.
As ESPN notes the crop were comprised of athletes from football, gymnastics, basketball and track and field among others, with an average age of 23.
Interestingly Sydne Watts was not the only young athlete with ties to WWE as the current boyfriend of Raw star Maxxine Dupri and San Diego University Defensive Linesman Anthony Luke also tried out for a place in the company.
Another current member of the Raw roster Zoey Stark was present at the tryouts, but was far from impressed with the attitudes of some taking part, click here to find out more.
