After the main event on tonight’s edition of WWE SmackDown, Adam Pearce hopped on the mic to announce the special guest referee for the Street Profits vs. the Usos match at SummerSlam.
Announced via video clip package, Jeff Jarrett was announced to be the guest referee for the upcoming SummerSlam match.
“There wasn’t one person who woke up this morning and said ‘Jeff Jarrett is going to be the special guest referee’,” said Pat McAfee before drawing the connection between the city of Nashville, Tennessee and the WWE Hall of Famer.
Notable Tennessee native Jarrett has no apparent connection to the match so theoretically can serve as an impartial judge.
