WWE Hall Of Famer Discusses Nick Aldis Having A ‘Chip On His Shoulder’ In IMPACT WWE

Former IMPACT Wrestling and NWA World Champion Nick Aldis finally made his first on-screen appearance for WWE on last week’s SmackDown show.

Aldis was revealed as the new general manager of the SmackDown brand, with Adam Pearce serving solely as the General Manager of Raw.

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff was on IMPACT’s creative team in 2013 during the time Aldis reigned as the World Champion, and he spoke on his 83 Weeks podcast about Aldis finally making it to WWE television, recalling him having a chip on his shoulder during his IMPACT run.

He said:

“I first met Nick when Dixie Carter brought him into IMPACT over from the UK. Nick was really green, very young, and [had] a little bit of a chip on his shoulder. It was hard to really warm up to Nick initially, but over time, as I got to know him, the kind of light bulb moment that changed everything for me was when I was working with him and Sting.”

“He kind of took the chip off his shoulder [and] opened up. I really enjoyed working with Nick because I saw an amazing amount of potential.”

Bischoff left IMPACT in 2014, and he said that he regrets not being able to work with Aldis for an extended period of time, believing that he has the ‘it factor’.

He said:

“You’re either born with it or you’re not. I saw in Nick, early on, that it was there. And for whatever reason, the path Nick has taken has been a little sequacious … he’s gone around the block a few times and just weaved his way around. He has finally ended up in a role where I think you’re gonna see an amazing character emerge.”

Aldis’ first act as the new SmackDown General Manager was to announce Kevin Owens’ arrival on the blue brand.
