An update has emerged on an upcoming NXT taping, with the real reason why WWE is pre-recording these matches now revealed.
WWE is now set to hold a double taping on Tuesday (February 13), where two weeks worth of matches will be taped for NXT.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, NXT will be pre-recording matches for the February 20 episode because there will be tryouts in Perth, Australia ahead of the February 24 Elimination Chamber premium live event.
It was noted that because of this, key NXT names will need to leave the US ahead of February 20.
WWE has held tryouts ahead of notable premium live events in the past, with the company notably hosting a tryout in Detroit ahead of SummerSlam 2023 in August.
A number of talents and helpers are usually at these events in addition to NXT Senior Vice President of Talent Development Creative Shawn Michaels.
The likes of Trick Williams and former WWE Champion Big E were notably at the Detroit tryout, keeping an eye on the prospective WWE names.
Big E recently recently revealed how a current WWE star saved his ‘floundering’ career, which you can read more about right here.
