WWE Hires Kenny Dykstra As Performance Center Coach

WWE has hired former Spirit Squad member Kenny Dykstra (Ken Doane) as a new coach for the Performance Center in Orlando, as per PWInsider,

The report confirmed that Doane has been working in Orlando for at least the last several weeks. In Doane’s Twitter bio, he has listed himself as a ‘WWE PC Coach’

Doane, who was trained by the legendary Killer Kowalski, notably wrestled for WWE from 2006 to 2008 as Kenny, and later Kenny Dykstra. Doane had previously competed for the developmental territory OVW, winning the TV Championship in 2005.

The former Spirit Squad member made a number of WWE appearances in late 2016, even unsuccessfully challenging Heath Slater & Rhyno for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles alongside Mikey (Mike Mondo).

Outside WWE, Doane made a name for himself competing on the independent scene.

WWE has notably moved away from hiring indie stand-outs to focus on ‘bigger and younger guys’. The latest set of Performance Center recruits included Joseph Fatu, brother of The Usos, and Bobby Steveson, brother of Gable Steveson, who was recently drafted to Raw.
