Fightful Select is reporting that “at least one” of the released WWE stars this year had their non-compete waived early by WWE higher-ups.
The site is even reporting that WWE was “willing to let them out of the entirety of it”, but the report notes that that didn’t actually end up happening.
Fightful goes on to report that WWE has been “very easy to deal with” in these discussions, which are believed to have been headed up by John Laurinaitis.
WWE has seemingly such a drastic shift in mentality. For so many years, the company was adamant about not releasing talent, but now WWE is not only regularly releasing wrestlers, but also apparently not being so strict about non-compete clauses.
