WWE Matches Of The Week #7

205 Live
Mustafa Ali vs. Tony Nese

It’s great to see Tony Nese given more time to really showcase himself. He genuinely lives up to the moniker of the ‘Premier Athlete’, it is just a shame that his selling is not on par with the likes of Buddy Murphy or Cedric Alexander.

This match was always going to be great and although it wasn’t quite as good as the standard set in recent weeks, it still blows everything on the main roster out of the water with ease. Some additional tension came in the form of Murphy and Alexander being in their respective friends’ corners. Murphy, in particular, gave a lot of loud instruction for Nese, giving the bout some extra flair.

Ali was on top form as always, providing even more unique offense such as a dive over the referee and the top rope to the men below. He continues to impress and will certainly hold the championship at some point down the line.

NXT
WWE United Kingdom Championship
Pete Dunne (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly

I could have watched this go on forever. It’s fair to say that I, rightfully, praise Pete Dunne every chance I get because he is absolutely phenomenal but I don’t think I get the chance to really express how good Kyle O’Reilly is. The man is great on the mic, has a brilliant presence, looks unique in the ring, provides facial expressions better than just about anyone working today and legitimately knows exactly what he is doing to such a high standard at all times.

Dunne recently took to Twitter to call out upcoming stars for not knowing the basics. This match was a masterclass in that field and O’Reilly certainly went toe to toe with the UK native. They worked over body parts, they hit harder than you could imagine and they told a brilliant in-ring story with such intensity.

I continue to look at the WWE UK and NXT rosters and can truly envision the future of the company within them. These two, along with many others, could easily be headlining pay-per-views within five years and I simply cannot wait.
