WWE Name Change For Former AEW Star

WWE Name Change For Former AEW Star WWE/AEW

There’s been a name change in WWE for a former AEW star who returned to the company, as announced in an intriguing video tonight.

Well, rather his new-to-WWE moniker that is!

In another intriguing vignette on tonight’s February 19 WWE Raw featuring Andrade, it was revealed that upon his return to the company he will continue to be known as the name he used in AEW, Andrade el Idolo.

When he returned to WWE at the Royal Rumble, until now, he’d only been using ‘Andrade’, the name he was using before he departed WWE the first time around in 2021.

During his time in NXT prior to that first WWE main roster run, his name was Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas, but it looks like Andrade el Idolo is the name he’s opted to use for this run.

In the video, el Idolo also made mention of his ‘wife, a wrestler’ who many fans are aware, is a reference to real-life wife Charlotte Flair.

The pair have not appeared together as an on-screen duo before in WWE. Flair remains out of action, rehabbing from an injury requiring surgery.

Andrade el Idolo has previously been managed in WWE by Zelina Vega, who is currently a member of LWO.

Elsewhere in Zelina Vega news, she was eliminated in a ‘last chance battle royal’ to determine who would enter the Elimination Chamber this Saturday at the event by the same name.

Vega was eliminated by Elektra Lopez as the pair continued to brawl after Lopez was eliminated shortly thereafter by Michin. Raquel Rodriguez won the battle royal, last eliminating Chelsea Green.
