New WWE Signing Set For Championship Shot In Debut Match

A new WWE signing is reportedly set to receive a championship shot in their debut match in the company.

After months of reports and speculation former STARDOM star Giulia was officially confirmed to have signed with WWE over WrestleMania 40 weekend – appearing on WWE TV for the first time at NXT Stand & Deliver on April 6, where she was sat in the crowd alongside William Regal.

Despite being shown off by WWE, there has been no concrete details on when Giulia will debut in the company – with the former NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion returning to her native Japan to wrap up dates with STARDOM and Pro Wrestling NOAH.

As well as these, it was long reported that Giulia would be assisting STARDOM founder Rossy Ogawa in starting up his own new promotion following his exit from the company.

Details of this new promotion were confirmed yesterday (April 15), with Giulia being showcased as a featured star for the new company known as Marigold.

So, this leads us on to how this all plays into WWE’s plans for Giulia, which we now know details of courtesy of a new report from Fightful Select’s Corey Brennan.

According to Brennan’s report, Giulia is expected to work at least a “handful” of matches for Marigold before reporting to the WWE Performance Center in June/July.

This will then lead to Giulia competing in her debut contest for WWE, which sources within WWE NXT believe will be the NXT Heatwave Premium Live Event on July 7.

Interestingly according to the report, WWE plan on booking Giulia in a title match immediately on NXT but it is not specified which belt she would be going for.

As far as Giulia’s presentation goes, Brennan learned from sources within NXT production that WWE currently have no plans to obtain the rights to Giulia’s existing entrance music at this time, but it was not entirely ruled out.

Importantly, it was also confirmed that the current plan is for Giulia to retain her existing ring name, rather than receive a new one in WWE.
