Original Plans For LWO Stable WWE Feud Revealed

The original plans for the LWO storyline have been revealed, following Santos Escobar turning his back on the faction.

Escobar finally snapped on the November 10 edition of SmackDown, attacking his mentor Rey Mysterio.

On the following week’s episode, Escobar had confrontations with Zelina Vega, Cruz Del Toro and Joaquin Wilde, with none of his LWO factionmates siding with him.

With previous reports indicating that Escobar will battle Mysterio in a ‘group vs group situation’ after Mysterio returns from injury, there has been a lot of speculation about who Escobar’s new tag partners could be.

Per Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan would’ve seen Del Toro and Wilde stay with Escobar.

Meltzer explained:

Regarding the LWO split, the original idea was for Wilde & Del Toro to stay with Escobar and feud with Rey & Carlito & a third person.

From TV that would make sense to be Dragon Lee, as the idea of Lee being the guy they are hoping can be a future Mysterio-style flying so aligning them doing the endorsement thing would make sense.

The Garzas are the ones who are scheduled at this point to replace Wilde & Del Toro on the Escobar side.

There’s speculation of Lopez, who was with Escobar in NXT, being on that side to feud with Vega but that is not at all confirmed.

Escobar, Del Toro, Wilde and Elektra Lopez notably wrestled as the Legado Del Fantasma faction in NXT.

Lopez remained in NXT when the group was brought up to the main roster in October 2022.

Revealing that plans for Escobar’s new teammates had Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo filling these roles as of earlier this week, Meltzer gave the following update on Escobar’s Survivor Series match against Carlito:

The other matches have Gunther vs. The Miz for the IC title, Rhea Ripley vs. Zoey Stark for the world women’s title and Carlito vs. Santos Escobar.

The latter match should involve some sort of tipping of the hand regarding who will be on Escobar’s side in the upcoming feud with a group led by Rey Mysterio & Carlito.

Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo were planned for this at least as of the past week.
