In the past few weeks, we’ve seen AJ Styles make a trip to NXT to face Grayson Waller, and Dolph Ziggler is taking on Tommaso Ciampa in an NXT Championship number one contender match tonight on NXT 2.0.
If you’ve enjoyed seeing main roster stars make their way onto NXT and vice versa, I have good news for you, as WWE is planning to make this a regular thing.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted the plan going forward is to always have some kind of Raw vs. NXT feud going at any given time.
He said:
“The strategy that they’ve had for whatever it’s been, several weeks, when they revamped everything, was they wanted more angles on Raw. Grayson Waller/AJ Styles was the first one. But they want an angle on Raw at all times on NXT. So this is the second one, and then this one runs its course after April – Ziggler’s probably gonna be the guy until the Stand & Deliver show – then they’ll use another guy.
“But the idea is always have a main roster guy, preferably from the Raw side, doing an angle on NXT, and you do the angle on both Raw and NXT, with the idea of that’s one of the ways to build up the NXT rating.”

It feels like it’s going to take a very big star to properly bump up NXT 2.0 numbers at this point.
