An update has emerged regarding plans in WWE for the upcoming retirement of AJ Styles, set to take place in 2026.
Styles has said numerous times over the past few weeks, including on WWE programming, that he’ll be retiring next year.
Some fans have doubted his comments, as he has famously spoken about retirement plans in the past and hasn’t acted on them.
However, the belief is his intentions are very real this time around.
On Wrestling Observer Radio today, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE has plans in place for AJ Styles‘ retirement. He said:
“There is a plan in play for how to handle AJ Styles’ retirement in 2026.
“It’s not fully locked in or anything, but the idea is, ‘We’re gonna do something.’
“So yeah, they believe he’s retiring next year.”

Styles worked yesterday’s WWE live event in Melbourne, Australia and told the crowd it was likely his last time wrestling there.
He’s also said WWE’s upcoming shows in Japan are probably his last time wrestling there as well.
