After suffering a stroke in February 2023, Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler received an outpouring of concern from WWE fans worldwide.

While he was briefly shown in a video clip ahead of Andy Kaufman’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame, he was reportedly unable to attend in person related to continuing to recover.

However tonight in his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee the WWE legend got the opportunity to come out in front of the crowd and the excited fans got the opportunity to chant his name.

With Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn reappearing after the opening match during the commercial break to introduce the professional wrestling legend, it was a truly heartwarming sight after such a tragic week of wrestling news.

On August 23, WWE legend Terry Funk passed away at age 79 with another tragedy occurring just the next day.

On August 24, 2023 WWE announced that Windham Rotunda (also known as Bray Wyatt) had suddenly passed away at age 36. There were more tributes to Wyatt during Raw tonight.
